Raw material prices are moving in the right direction for High Liner Foods, said its CEO Henry Demone, after the Canadian company reported record results for 2011.
"Cod has come down a lot already," Demone told IntraFish. "Vannemei shrimp is showing weak prices much earlier than usual. Alaskan pollock is stable at best with a lot of downward pressure from big European buyers."
Demone's comments come after High Liner, which bought Icelandic USA late last year, reported record results.
His comments about prices echo statements given to IntraFish from other executives on cod, Alaska pollock and farmed shrimp.
