Russia's ban on seafood imports is one of the more preposterous things I've witnessed in my time writing about seafood, and nobody has any clue what the full ramifications will be.

In my view, and many may disagree, is that this will be pointed to as one of the major turning points in global seafood trade, salmon in particular. Earlier this year, Rabobank estimated around $3 billion (€2.2 billion) worth of seafood could be imported into Russia by the end of the year.
