The global wild whitefish supply is expected to rise just under 1 percent to 8.566 million metric tons in 2017, dragged down in large part by an expected drop in Atlantic cod harvests, attendees at the 25th annual Groundfish Forum in Hamburg, Germany, were told on Wednesday.
Atlantic cod supply is expected to drop to 1.186 million metric tons in 2017 down 9 percent from 1.306 million metric tons in 2016, while haddock supply will decrease 2 percent from 385,000 metric tons to 376,000 metric tons.
