Non-governmental organization (NGO) Greenpeace wants health shops like Boots to follow the lead of Holland & Barrett and ditch Antarctic krill-based products, reports The Guardian.

Campaigners are calling on high street retailers to stop stocking these products, warning of the threat Antarctic krill fishing poses to species such as penguins, seal and whales.

Last week one of the UK’s biggest health retailers, Holland and Barrett, agreed to remove krill-based products like Omega 3 supplements from its shelves.

“Boots’s stated mission is to be the UK’s most socially responsible retailer in the health and beauty market,” said Lousia Casson, head of Greenpeace UK’s Protect the Antarctic campaign.
