Greenpeace on Wednesday released its new fish shopping guide in Germany, advising consumers to stop eating fish -- for good.
But who can't do without, should choose carp, herring or catfish -- but not without restrictions, the green group urged.
"Many fishing and farming practices damage the environment significantly," Sandra Schöttner, marine expert for Greenpeace, said in a statement.
"A number of stocks are overfished. To make an environmentally conscious decision it's simply not enough to look at the fish -- today it's paramount to know where and how the fish was caught or farmed," she said.
