Glacier: Prices may rise for pollock

The coming year’s Bering Sea/Aleutian Islands pollock fishery quota may be 5.3 percent lower than last year’s quota, but there could be a silver lining for pollock harvesters.

Market prices may rise moderately, Glacier Fish Co. President John Bundy told IntraFish.

Last year, the North Pacific Fishery Management Council (NPFMC) had increased the pollock quota from 813,000 million metric tons in 2010 to 1.267 metric tons in 2011. That increase caused prices to come down, even as prices across the seafood sector rose, said Bundy.
