Officials near Hudson, NY, say much-acclaimed land-based fish farmer Local Ocean is out of business, but there are thousands of fish still in its tanks.

On Thursday morning, Greenport, N.Y. Supervisor John Porreca took the town's code enforcement officer to Local Ocean's indoor farm to examine the live fish that may have been abandoned. He said 150 tanks on the property contained the fish, reported the Albany Times Union.
State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) spokeswoman Lori Severino told the newspaper the department's Division of Law Enforcement will visit the site to ensure that permit conditions and environmental rules are being followed.
