Paolo Bray, director of Friend of the Sea, called on Korean tuna giant Dongwon Industries and its US subsidiary Starkist to stop shark finning.
In the open letter, sent to Starkist CEO In-soo Cho, Bray claims evidence from the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC), one of the Regional Fishery Management Organizations (RFMOs), show this practice is taking place on Dongwon vessels.
“I have never received a reply to the several emails sent to you in the past months. This is why I am now sending you this public letter,” wrote Bray in the letter.
