French trader Direct Ocean plans to sell Chilean salmon into South East Asia through a new office in Vietnam, while also sourcing pangasius and tuna.
The Boulogne sur Mer-based company opened the office in Hoi Chi Minh City at the start of October for both sourcing and sales, said Phillipe Barbe, its managing director.
“Demand for salmon is growing in countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia,” Barbe told IntraFish. “This is mainly into foodservice, but there is also some by-products being used in retail.”
