Twenty years after closing down, the Seafood Shanty that drew crowds in the 1970s and '80s for its chowder and key lime pie reclaimed its place in the US East Coast restaurant scene this year.

Signs of success began on Black Friday last November, when owner Eddie Riegel launched his first offer: two-for-one gift cards for the first 50 customers.

“I decided to sell a couple 100,” Riegel told IntraFish. “We sold over 100,000 right away.”

The restaurant, located in Spring Ridge, Pennsylvania, outside of Reading, wasn’t even open yet.
