Elisabeth Benonisen has just successfully launched an exclusive collection of her ladies’ handbags made of salmon skin.
“It’s sustainable material and a byproduct of the food industry,” Benonisen told IntraFish. “The texture is delicate but the skin is as tough as cattle hide. I create a product that is contemporary, but at the same time independent of trends. The handbags are designed to enjoy a ‘long life’; I’m hoping the customers will take care of them. These are an input against the ‘use-and-chuck’ mentality.”
