Finnish salmon processor moving forward with mega-expansion

Plans to expand capacity at Finnish salmon processor Hätälä's 6,500 square meter facility in Oulu are slowly but surely progressing, Matti Isohätälä, vice CEO at the company, told IntraFish.

The company told IntraFish about the plans about two years ago but regulatory stumbling blocks slowed down the process.

"We have now made some progress in getting the approval from the government to do the expansion," Isohätälä said.

This year, the focus will be on getting the design ready and construction is slated to start early next year.
