The introduction of the Fish McBites by McDonald’s and a decision from Burger King to switch to sourcing more deepskin Alaska pollock are behind the increased production of deepskin from the US fleet seen so far this B-season, a source in the processing sector in Europe said.

So far this B-season, production of deepskin fillets is up 34 percent to 4,300 metric tons, with production of pin-bone out (PBO) blocks, much of which goes into the European processing sector, down 34 percent to 6,800 metric tons.
