Like Chile, one would think the Faroese seafood industry would be scrambling for a piece of the Russian market. Not so fast.
Stefan Skorini, head of the Faroese Fish Farmers Association, told IntraFish exporters and farmers are instead cautiously, and even reluctantly, preparing for a year of increased demand and changing dynamics.
"Salmon farmers are not celebrating the ban because it can create a disruption in the market," Skorini said. "Norway and UK product has to be redirected. They know that they can be getting lower prices in other markets.
