IntraFish spoke with six different salmon suppliers in Norway Friday, shortly after 1.15 pm GMT.
The general consensus is prices for next week’s deliveries are down, although no-one was quite sure by how much yet at this stage.
One exporter said prices were down by NOK 1 (€0.13/$0.16) per kilo from last week’s prices.
Others say the drop is of NOK 1.50 (€0.2/$0.25) or more.
All commented on a large supply of small fish on the market. This is particularly due to slaughtering of pancreas disease-affected sites, but also due to producers having to meet regulations on the maximum amount of fish allowed in their sites.
