Using costlier feed pays off in the long run, ensuring the quickest growth of salmon, Tore Holand, managing director at Midt-Norsk Havbruk, told the audience at fish health firm Europharma’s annual Lofot Seminar.
Salmon production could be increased 10 to 20 percent by just increasing therate of growth, he said.
Instead of producing 1,000metric tons of salmon in one production license per year, quicker growth andrapidity of circulation could lead to a production of 1,200 metric tons peryear.
Holand also said this ispossible through the present growth regulatory regime, the maximum permittedbiomass (MPB).
