The entry of the first container of Eduadorian shrimp into the Brazilian marketplace since the supreme court lifted an import ban is raising hopes that Ecuadorian producers could reap the benefits of a sales bonanza.

“We have concluded that once there is no longer any commercial hold up, Brazil can overtake the US in terms of exports,” Cristiansen General Manager Gino Cristiansen told IntraFish, adding the hurdles could be completely removed in as little as 12 months should Ecuador get a clear run at the Brazilian market.
