Fish-health group Europharma has merged with sister companies Fishguard and ACD Pharma.

Jim-Roger Nordly, owner of Europharma, announced the news at the company's annual fish-health seminar in Lofoten, Norway, in front of Norwegian Minister of Fisheries Harald Tom Nesvik as well as 140 national and international guests from the aquaculture industry.

"The time is right to join forces," he said. "Over the years we have amassed a broad range of competence and knowledge on just about every aspect relating to the biological production of fish. We want to utilize this competence more efficiently than we do as separate companies."

Since 1995, Europharma has been the leading supplier of vaccines and fish-health products for the Norwegian salmon industry in addition to being present in Scotland, Chile, Canada, Iceland and the Faroes.

Fishguard offers fish health services and environmental services for aquaculture, and the research and design company ACD Pharma's speciality is in bacteriophages in aquaculture.

The company will now be known as STIM, it said.
