After a difficult Christmas last year, Europe's smoked salmon producers are looking ahead to a better 2014, and are predicting recovering holiday sales aided by more stable prices and improved demand.

Danish smokers recovered from last year's issues and "are doing pretty well," Peter Bamberger, chairman of the Danish Seafood Association, told IntraFish.

Prices have stabilized throughout the year and communication with retailers has improved, he said.

However, there has been a shift in market focus -- also for the Christmas trade, he said.
