Alaska pollock buyers have more fish in stock this year and are holding off on going into the market, fearing a dip in prices, sources told IntraFish.
The US and Russian pollock quotas are both still high in 2012, but a lot of fish was left in the water by the US fleet last year in the B-season, which has prevented prices from dropping more, an executive from a European trading group told IntraFish. “If the Americans had carried over a lot of stock, it could have hit the prices more.”
