Salmon prices ahead of the Easter holiday shot up to new record highs for this year, with several industry players talking of prices higher than NOK 70 (€7.50/$8.40).
Coupled with the current supply crisis in Chile due to the algae bloom, prices are likely to remain high for some time as several analysts recently predicted.
Peter Bamberger, chairman of the Danish Seafood Association, told IntraFish prices on Wednesday morning were "the highest I've seen so far this year."
Demand is high and supplies are low on large sizes in particular, he said.
