EU processors: Era of cheap salmon is over

The era of "cheap salmon" is over, EU salmon processors believe, after seeing sky-rocketing and volatile Atlantic salmon prices for the best part of the year.

And there will be no relief, as predictions show global salmon supply will remain tight into next year on ongoing biological challenges both in Chile and Norway.

So far, consumer demand has not been impacted and consensus is it will remain high in the run-up to Christmas, industry watchers told IntraFish.
