Klaus Nielsen, CEO of Danish whitefish processor Espersen, is calling for a "structural change" in China's processing sector in the wake of the company's announcement it will discontinue outsourced processing in the country after 11 years.
China will still remain a "home for processing in the years to come," especially for Alaska pollock and cod, he told IntraFish.
But "I think it will continue but there needs to be a structural change," he said. Processors are "left with no margins" as buyers in Europe continue to squeeze them on prices.
