Eide sees the contours of an aquaculture industry already well on the way to becoming a global industry. Today the situation is such that 10 major companies control between 65 percent and 70 percent of the world’s salmon production.
In Eide’s opinion, this trend will be ongoing.
“I believe in two years time we will see 10 major companies control 90 percent of the world’s salmon production,” he said in his address at the Laksedagene conference in Hell, Norway.
Pan Fish-Marine Harvest will participate in this development, Eide said.
