Beijing, China-based $200 (€150.8)-million-turnover trading group East China Seas is seeing gains in its new business of importing shrimp into China and Asia, rather than exporting.
The company generated around $15 million (€11.3 million) from imports into Asia in 2011 -- mainly to China -- and its Managing Director Didier Boon plans to increase this by “four times, maybe five times” in 2012, he told IntraFish.
East China Seas has set up an office in Ecuador to handle shrimp purchasing for sale into the China market, said Boon.
