The majority owners of Belgian processor Levenstond Seafood -- which acquired 'Le Fish' producer Vandermaesen from Dutch processor Kennemervis in June 2012 -- finalized a deal Thursday to acquire 100 percent of the company.

Three years ago, Kennemervis acquired a 27 percent stake in Levenstond Seafood in exchange for Vandermaesen,.

"We now decided to buy them out completely," Axel Verberckmoes, CEO at Levenstond, told IntraFish this week. He and his wife and company CFO Gianne Levenstond now own 100 percent of the company.

Verberckmoes declined to share the value of the transaction, but said the deal will set the scene for another period of growth for the Belgian processor, which supplies a wide range of MAP-packed and other products to domestic retailers and foodservice.
