South Korea-based tuna giant Dongwon Industries is among parties bidding to acquire Spain’s Calvo Group.
An executive at Dongwon, who preferred not to be named, confirmed to IntraFish Dongwon was in talks with Spain’s largest canned tuna manufacturer.
However, he said, the talks are not exclusive and nothing is determined at this stage.
Calvo is “only one of several companies that Dongwon is considering for potential acquisitions,” he told IntraFish.
On Friday, Dongwon confirmed in a regulatory filing that it was in talks for a possible acquisition of a "Spanish tuna canner."
