The expansionist intention of South Korean tuna giant Dongwon Industries in the United States is well known, but the company is also looking to make acquisitions in new regions and establish a global footprint, sources told IntraFish.
Seoul-based Dongwon, which owns canned tuna business Starkist in the United States and is reportedly vying to acquire Newport News, VA-based processor Icelandic USA, is also looking to make acquisitions in Africa and in Europe as part of a strategy to become a truly global player, sources said.
