Last year's drop in salmon prices from NOK 35 (€4.8/$6.2) to NOK 18 (€2.5/$3.2) within just a few months wouldn't have hit sellers and buyers as hard if Norwegian producers had considered salmon as a global product, one importer in Singapore told IntraFish.
“Salmon is a global product," Woon Kee Yang, director and shareholder of Singapore-based importers Yu Fish Private said. "Even though Norway is the largest producer, there are other salmon-producing countries."
Yang's company imports, markets and distributes seafood in Singapore and the surrounding regions.
