"Looting the Seas" -- conveniently timed a week before the next meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) -- repeated its estimate rampant illegalities in the Mediterranean created a $4 billion (€2.8 billion) black bluefin tuna market between 1998 and 2007.

This is when fraud was at its highest, and the documentary acknowledges “there are signs that the European Union has started to crack down” on the illegalities in the market.
