This summer, the European Free Trade Association’s (EFTA) Surveillance Authority (ESA) requested Norway to name reasons why the 25 percent ownership limit on the total biomass of Norwegian salmon production was still in place.

The EU has no such limits; the EU's competition law is implemented only if a player or company in an industry attains a dominant position in certain markets.
