The reason for this is that many value-added processors in Denmark have contracts with major companies further south in Europe on supplying salmon for campaigns. A number of companies have not allowed for the price of salmon having so soon risen by NOK 5 (€0.62/$0.85) per kilo. A purchase of 100 metric tons salmon a week quickly results in a loss of NOK 500,000 (€62,582/$85,447) in the current situation.
