Croatian seabass and seabream producer Cromaris has attained certification from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) for its five farms for seabass, seabream and meagre.

Cromaris is the only producer of Mediterranean whitefish that has ASC certification across production for all three species, including organic production and the Chain of Custody (CoC) certification for processing facilities.

Cromaris' main market is Italy, with strong growth in France, Germany, and Switzerland.

The ASC launched new standards for sea bass, sea bream and meagre in September 2018.

Greece-based Nireus and Turkish-owned Sursan became the first Mediterranean fish farming companies certified by the new standards earlier this year.
