The collapse of the deal for Thai Union to acquire Bumble Bee Seafoods did not come as much of surprise to many analysts, but most are now intrigued to see what will happen next.

Thai Union Group on Friday announced it terminated its planned acquisition of Bumble Bee Seafoods, ending a year-long process of delays waiting for approval from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to clear the deal.

Prasit Sujiravorakul, analyst at Bualang Securities, told IntraFish the decision was “quite expected,” and for the past few months he anticipated “the deal would ultimately not go through.”
