China Fishery Group's latest takeover bid for Copeinca was welcomed with open arms by Cermaq as well as the Peruvian fishmeal producer itself -- a surprise to many given the seemingly hostile relationship between the three companies.
The Copeinca board’s change of heart came down, in the end, to the bottom line, according to Kristjan Davidsson, deputy chairman at the company.
“This is considerably more attractive,” Davidsson told IntraFish of the new China Fishery offer. “If the board felt the Cermaq offer was good, this is much better.”
