Canadian seafood giant Cooke Aquaculture is producing salmon again at a facility along Newfoundland's south coast, that hadn't been in operations for four years.

Cooke officials secured a long-term lease with site in April after its lease for the former Harbour Breton plant wasn't renewed by its owner Barry Group in January, because some of its salmon had been infected.

Previously owned by Gray Aqua until it ran into financial problems, the Hermitage facility will serve as Cooke's new processing facility for years to come, according to Nell Halse, the company's vice president of communications.
