Salmon is in a category all its own; never before has so much of the fish been produced globally according to the Norwegian Seafood Council’s (NSC) Project Director Jan Trollvik.

Incredibly enough, however, prices are still NOK 15 (€1.9/$2.5) higher per kilo than last year’s prices.

At one of NSC’s earlier finance seminars, Trollvik expressed anxiety about the high salmon prices, saying that when prices remain high over a longer period of time it can lead to reduced demand.

Subsequently salmon could lose its footing in the retail outlets.
