The supply of coldwater shrimp globally could be facing a massive drop with Canadian regulators expected to cut quotas as a result of biomass changes from warmer water temperatures brought about by climate change.

“Some say it is going to go down by at least 40 percent,” Lise-Lotte Callesoe, category director at Royal Greenland, told IntraFish.

Tom-Harry Klausen, CEO at Norwegian supplier Stella Polaris, told IntraFish the quota in Canada could be reduced even further, with reductions of 50 percent being considered.
