Clearwater Seafoods says its 50-year partnership agreement announced on Tuesday with 14 First Nation communities in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador puts it in a good position to win any potential bidding process for the Arctic surf clam fishery concession.

The agreement will allow the First Nation groups to cooperatively harvest the Arctic surf clam fishery.

But it is currently unclear whether Clearwater will face a new expression of interest (EOI) bidding process for the fishery’s catch quota in 2020.
