Recent civil unrest in Ecuador cost the country's shrimp hatcheries around $1 million (€897,114), Jose Antonio Camposano, president of Ecuador aquaculture association Camara Nacional de Acuacultura (CNA) told IntraFish.
Producers were unable to move larvae to grow-out sites after they reached sizes unsuitable for seeding, which meant they would not reach expected yields. But transport delays did not in the end force major losses.
