That’s according to Norwegian Seafood Export Council (NSEC) market analyst Paul Aandahl.
New restrictions on fresh salmon exported from Norway to China, imposed before Christmas, have resulted in lengthier inspections, which often take several days, Aandahl said. This means the salmon is no longer as fresh when it arrives.
“The restrictions mean a limitation has been put on exports of fresh salmon to China,” Aandahl told Intrafish.
“Weekly export figures don’t include China anymore. That means there are three or four fewer exporters sending fresh salmon to China.”
