"Pollock is a garbage business, and is no longer financially viable," Frank Zhou, president of Qingdao-based processor Ocean One Enterprise, told IntraFish.

His comments come in the wake of increasing reports of struggling Chinese processors, with many hurting from high Alaska and Russian pollock prices.

According to one supplier in Russia, who didn't want to be named, prices for H&G pollock from Russia delivered to Chinese ports have continually increased over the past weeks.

In the third week of September prices hit $1,460 (€1,146) H&G for 20+, $1,540 (€1,208) H&G 25+, and $1,570 (€1,232) H&G 30+ CIF Chinese ports per metric ton.
