The mortality rate per year class averaged around 15 percent in Chile, from the year 2000 until and including 2004, Johnsen said.
In 2005, the percentage leaped to around 25 percent – a 65 percent increase.
Johnsen presented the figures at a major fish health conference held in Chile last week.
