At the halfway point in 2007, the four companies -- AquaChile, MultiExport, Invermar and Pesquera Yadran -- notched a combined profit of $52 million (€35 million), El Mercurio reported.
The four companies account for an estimated 30 percent of Chile’s total production of Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout and coho. They are the only Chilean companies obliged to report their financial results.
AquaChile
The hardest hit of the four is AquaChile, which is the world’s fourth-largest salmon producing company, though only third in Chile, behind Marine Harvest and Cermaq’s Mainstream.
