Chilean salmon are still Norwegian

The German-Norwegian breeding technology firm Aqua Gen is in the process of building up its own separate breeding program for Chile.

“Our activity in Chile will be completely independent of our European activities,” Aqua Gen Managing Director Odd Magne Rodseth told IntraFish.

Atlantic salmon is an imported species in South America. At the start of the Chilean salmon adventure most of the Chilean salmon were of Scottish and Canadian origin. Rodseth said the majority have become Norwegian during the last five-six years.
