The globally well-respected periodical MIT Technology Review recently honored five young Chileans for technological innovation. One of them is Claudia Ibacache, who received the award at an event held in Chile last weekend.

She is a qualified pharmacist, educated at Valparaiso University in Chile, and is currently completing a doctorate in Spain, at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.

Ibacache is one of the founders of a new company, Micro Marine Biotech, a spin-off from Universidad de Valparaíso.

“This distinction will help us in obtaining investors as well as developing and marketing the product,” she said in an article on the Chilean university’s website.
