Chiloe's government representative is urging officials to be cautious when suggesting the ongoing dispute between fishermen and the government is coming to an end.

Despite signs of progress in the ongoing dispute between Chile's fishermen and the government, Alejandro Santana, representative for Chiloe and Palena, stressed that these signs are misleading.

"91 percent of fishermen affected by the red tide are far from reaching an agreement with the government," he said.

The fishermen's protests over the Chilean salmon farming industry's alleged role in the return of a deadly algae bloom broke out more than a week ago and have spread to regions beyond Chiloe, where they first began.
