Chile’s export council (ProChile) held a press conference at the Chile Pavilion at the European Seafood Exposition (ESE) in Brussels last week in part to reassure buyers that the recent find of infectious salmon anemia (ISA) in areas of Chile are no cause for panic.
“Chile has had two instances of ISA since 2007. In Norway you have averaged seven annually in the past five years, and you have lived with the disease for more than 30 years. Why shouldn’t we manage to do the same?" asked Chile’s Vice-Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Pablo Galilea.
