In terms of value sales of salmonids from Chile last year totaled $2.059 billion (€1.9 billion). This is a reduction of 2 percent from the previous year, according to the news publications Diario Financiero and Estatregia – which in turn referred to the website InfoTrade.

With volume exports amounted to 297,000 metric tons product weight. The Chileans rarely provide details in round weight (WFE/whole fish equivalent). Sales in product weight accounted for a downturn of around 20 percent from 2009.

The reason for the downturn is the infectious salmon anemia (ISA) problems that devastated their Atlantic salmon.
