Chilean companies have “already been on the market with 200 metric tons of frozen Atlantic salmon, which were offered at a euro lower per kilo than European producers’ prices,” said Kristian Matthiasson of Leines Seafood.

He reminded IntraFish how things were on the European market before the collapse in Chile. The South American producer nation practiced an aggressive price policy which resulted in a drop in prices on the European market. This led to lost market shares.

Matthiasson fears the same could happen in the near future when Chile returns with considerable volumes of fish.
